UNITED- STATES ABRIDGED LIFE TABLES: I INTRODUCTION. QENERAL STATEMENTS. This third official publication on life tables issued by the Bureau of the Census is called abridged life tables because of the abridged process of construct- ing them and because they show life \able values.
